Last year is a year of ups and downs of TV5 Kapatid network but I think it’s more of ups than downs with some of the big stars transferred to their turf from either ABS-CBN or GMA7 networks. 2012 is another year of TV5 to show more it’s strength in the reality show category – a category where other networks has stablished shows.

Kapatid TV5 Network has just released complete list of reality shows to be aired in 2012:

1. Extreme Makeover: Home Edition Philippines

Started in Hollywood by Howard Schultz in 2002, Extreme Makeover is a television program from ABC in which individuals volunteered to receive an extensive makeover.
This popular show will have its debut in the Philippines this 2012 to be hosted by Paolo Bediones with Tessa Prieto-Valdez and Divine Lee. However, Extreme Makeover local version will provide home renovations to less fortunate families and communities, instead of Hollywood, within the span of seven days.

2. Dancing Nation

Dancing is another natural talent for Filipinos. Dancing Nation will have its uniqueness by providing highly inspired dance-off competition that unites the whole community toward a common cause.

3. Kanta Pilipinas

Filipinos are naturally gifted with singing prowess as evidenced by having several singers making names in the internationala scene like Lea Salonga, Charice Pempengco, and Arnel Pineda to name a few. Kanta Pilipinas can be another channel of blessings for some dreaming to be like a star locally and internationallly.

4. The Biggest Game Show in Asia

Game shows are becoming big in the industry. The Biggest Game Show is Asia will be hosted by Richard Gomez and Joey de Leon where teams from four South East Asian countries (Thailand, Malaysia, Indonesia, and Philippines) will compete against each other through games and obstacle courses.

5. The Amazing Race Philippines

6. Temptation Island: Dare to Win

Temptation Island : Dare to Win is inspired by the ’80s movie Temptation Island

Population Growth of the Philippines in 2012 – One of the major reasons of poverty in the developing countries like the Philippines is over population. This year, it will grow by another millions which is not good for the economy as a whole. There ought to be solid laws about population control and it must be implemented soon regardless of what the religious people would say as long as it’s not in the form of abortion.

Lawmakers and executives must seriously consider that the Philippine population is projected to increase from 95.8 million to 97.6 million this 2012. A leap frogging population growth rather than economic growth. No wonder why business tycoon Lucio Tan said that the Philippines can’t catch-up the economic tigers of Asia like Singapore, Japan, China, Thailand, Malaysia, etc. These nations are effective population control because their government are not being dictated by religious beliefs and let alone religious leaders.

The 2012 Population Growth data in the Philippines is based on the reports of Commission on Population (PopCom) executive director Tomas Osias who cited data from the National Statistics Coordinating Board. He said that the current population growth rate (PGR) is at 2.04. If rate will not go down, the population may increase to 101.2 million by 2014 Osias added. The Philippines’ total fertility rate (TFR) is now pegged at 3.2, which means that Filipino couples normally have three to four children although their desired number of children is only two.

This is not a fiction. It’s a reality that can’t be denied. Some men may not totally agree with what were written here in answer to the question – Why women cry? Of course not every statements are applicable all the time, but if we try to digest it with an open heart, most of the time, it’s a reality in life.

Why Women Cry?

A little boy asked his mother, “Why are you crying?” “Because I’m a woman,” she told him.

“I don’t understand,” he said. His Mom just hugged him and said, “And you never will.”

Later the little boy asked his father, “Why does mother seem to cry for no reason?”

“All women cry for no reason,” was all his dad could say.

The little boy grew up and became a man, still wondering why women cry.

Finally he put in a call to God. When God got on the phone, he asked, “God, why do women cry so easily?”

God said, “When I made the woman she had to be special.

I made her shoulders strong enough to carry the weight of the world,

yet gentle enough to give comfort.

I gave her an inner strength to endure childbirth and the rejection that many times comes from her children.

I gave her a hardness that allows her to keep going when everyone else gives up, and take care of her family through sickness and fatigue without complaining.

I gave her the sensitivity to love her children under any and all circumstances, even when her child has hurt her very badly.

I gave her strength to carry her husband through his faults and fashioned her from his rib to protect his heart.

I gave her wisdom to know that a good husband never hurts his wife, but sometimes tests her strengths and her resolve to stand beside him unfalteringly.

And finally, I gave her a tear to shed. This is hers exclusively to use whenever it is needed.”

“You see my son,” said God, “the beauty of a woman is not in the clothes she wears, the figure that she carries, or the way she combs her hair.

The beauty of a woman must be seen in her eyes, because that is the doorway to her heart – the place where love resides.”

I am a married man. And I agree with most of the statements written above why do women cry? Men are strong in many ways but when faced with difficult situations in life, they resort to suicides more than women do. Men do cry also but it’s always a rare case scenario because of the “Macho” mentality. The moral lesson of this poem – Why Women Cry? – is that men must be sensitive enough to attend to the needs of the women.

ZTE Officials vowed to testify against GMA – Former Philippine president Gloria Macapagal Arroyo, now in hospital arrest, is facing a bigger test of her life when two executives of ZTE Corporation, the largest telecommunications equipment company in China, vowed to be among the witnesses of the Ombudsman against her. This is regarding her alleged anomalous role in the $329-million national broadband network (NBN).

It’s a sorry new year for the former president who many believed to be the most corrupt highest official that governed the country for almost 10 years. Glora Arroyo’s stint in Malacanang Palace was marred with several high profile anomalies including the 2007 electoral sabotage that led to her arrest. She is now detained in Veterans Memorial Hospital, the same hospital where former president Joseph Estrada stayed when convicted with graft and corruption after his removal via uprisin in EDSA sometime in 2003.

Currently in the main casts of Bubble Gang gag show in GMA 7 Network, Ellen Adarna as a cover girl of FHM Philippines will be her 2nd in a row.

Ellen Adarna was one of the contestants in the 2011 Survivor Philippines dubbed Celebrity Doubles Showdown. Ellen’s businessman boyfriend Filo Cucueco was her partner but in the early goings of the reality show, she quit stating that her decision was based on the fact that she forced Filo to join the Survivor. She continued on to say that his [Filo] heart wasn’t it so it’s nonsense to continue which frustrates the remaining castaways.

It’s Ellen Adarna’s second FHM cover since December 2010, and FHM January 2012 edition has two different covers but have the same content.

Prior to becoming one of the after-sought sexy starlet of Mens magazines locally, Ellen Adarna was labeled as “Queen of Myspace” because of her uploaded sexy pictures in the internet with different men. Well, the kind of woman like Ellen Adarna will not surely last long in show business industry. Mark my words…

The win gave Taylor a new sign of hope to resurrect his boxing career after 26 months of temporary hiatus after of his poor performances in the Super Six Middleweight bouts of Showtime promotions later won by his countryman Andre Ward.

Taylor started strong and sustained it throughout the bout though he lost a point in 6th round when he hit his opponent after the bell rang to end the bout. He confessed in the post fight conference that early on, he injured his right hand. He came in strong in the 8th round pummeling Nicklow with his vaunted left jab and right straight, and referee Ray Corona thought he has seen enough and stopped the fight but boxing fans saw it as premature stoppage.

Jermain Taylor looked rusty but it’s a good fight for him as he take the slow road back to boxing stardom. JT’s handlers should not rush him to fight dangerous opponents soon because he will surely be knocked-out again as evidenced by seeing him hit several times by Jessie Nicklow in this bout.

Death Cab for Cutie’s latest album, Codes and Keys, was released on May 31, 2011. Both Ben Gibbard and Nick Harmer stated that the album was “a much less guitar-centric album than we’ve ever made before”. Part of the album’s promotion was a solo concert by Ben Gibbard who performed the title track in San Francisco in March 2011.

DCFC first single from the album, “You Are A Tourist,” has drawn The Stone Roses comparisons and on April 5, 2011, the group performed a live performance of the music video carrying the said title – no edits or re-takes. The well thought-out production of the video composed of dancers, actors, and projected images. The band released the video for “Home is a Fire” on May 9, 2011. Band founder Ben Gibbard told Shave Magazine that the album was written in 4 different studios in 4 different sittings “to keep the creative progress moving forward” thus preventing mired monotony.

Death Cab for Cutie performed at the Ottawa Bluesfest on July 17, 2011, but unfortunately, the outdoor stage collapsed earlier in the evening after sudden severe weather hit the area. However, no one was reportedly killed but several fans sustained injuries.

The black Toyota Altis registered with a Plate Number ZSP-875 where Perez body found was at the service road of the expressway.

Married to his longtime girlfriend Liv Espino, and a native of Concepcion, Tarlac, Tyrone Perez (Jojo Perez in real life) was 26 years old at the time of his death. Initial police reports stated that Perez died of a caliber .22 gunshot wound on the right side of his head which suggested that it’s a suicide. However, Police Senior Superintendent Wilben Mayor told ABS-CBN News (Perez’ new home network) that a “suicide case” is not yet conclusive as “investigations are still ongoing.”

Now a Kapamilya, Tyron Perez became famous after joining StarStruck in 2003 (GMA7 TV Network Talent-Search program) and started the leading role as Dwight in the 2006 movie Twilight Dancers. Tyrone considered Momay as his biggest break in television as part of the Main cast after Bakekang recently aired on GMA Network. He just signed up with Star Magic in 2010 and he was set to star in an ABS-CBN teleserye in 2012.

The remains of Tyron lie in state at the Loyola Memorial Park in Sucat, Paranaque City until January 1, 2012.

Welcoming the new year in the Philippines can be unique in the sense that we see star-studded programs setup in major cities of the country hosted by TV giants like GMA7 and ABS-CBN. This year 2011, we are expecting TV5 to join the bandwagon because of its vast array of talents available enough to lure people to go and patronize their own program. And while a star-studded program can be entertaining at best, fire cracking devotees would opt to stay at home and do the usual thing. They don’t mind the possibility of making them the next victim of Fire Cracker curses – amputation of hand fingers, wounds or burns in the parts of the body, and burning of houses just to name a few.

Year-end fire cracking in the world has been a normal activity in welcoming the coming year. But don’t you know that almost annually, Philippines is topping the list as far as number of deaths and wounded are concerned? It’s true that we have enough laws to control fire cracking activity, but sadly , suppliers of fire cracker items obviously violating the laws are being protected by police officers patrolling the supply outlet vicinity for a fee. Raids are done but total closure to the violators are not happening which in the minds of the thinkers, it’s just a gimmick.
