2012 SONA (State of the Nation Address) of President Benigno Noynoy Aquino III . 2012 State of the Nation Address of Noynoy Aquino

In the third State of the Nation Address (SONA 2012) of President Noynoy Aquino which falls on July 31, 2012, I think Filipinos should already start to feel and see the effect of economic growth (if any) as bolstered during his speech in SONA 2011 and as well as in SONA 2010. And I think it’s a must delivery because the Filipino masses are becoming impatient, and he has been in power for 2 years by that time. But if President Noynoy can do it earlier, why wait for the next SONA?

In his last SONA, the Filipino masses barely feel the economic growth and advances President Noynoy mentioned. What most of us felt is the obvious removal of wang-wang of the abusive police authorities and traffic enforcers in the streets. Yes indeed! The blinkers “wang-wang” are gone and other sounds of abuse in power and graft and corruption. The big question now is if P-Noy can sustain it.

Fighting graft and corruption is good but these are not the direct basic needs of the Filipino masses. What we need are enough food in the table, permanent work with good compensations, affordable price of basic commodities, medicines in public hospitals, enough rooms and teachers in schools, and police authorities whom people aren’t afraid of that they might be victimize by their “wang-wang” mentality. These things are more than enough because Filipinos are easily satisfied with simple things.

If the mentioned above are not delivered to the Filipino masses at least sooner, then we will not hear anything but purely complains and criticisms. And comments that P-noy is just pure talk will be heard louder in the radios and in street congregations. It goes to show that P-Noy government has no clear roadmap to get to what he has promised during his campaign and in his SONAs. This will result to a guaranteed repeat of promises in the next SONA in 2012.

It’s hard to convince people to believe if the don’t feel anything about the economic growth being mentioned during SONAs. Isn’t it easier to convince people if there has been proofs of what P-Noy is talking about?

President Noynoy is somehow good in Tagalog speech but then again, eloquence in delivering a speech will be nothing when it is not seen in real life. And worst, it will be interpreted as purely “ngawngaw” – a reverse of “wangwang.”
