The battle of Tablet PCs is becoming fierced and unstoppable. Lenovo is joining the mix by coming-up with LePad – the new Android based tablet PC. Lenovo announced that LePad will be launched by end of this year in time for the gift-giving Christmas season. Lenovo’s VP, Liu Jun disclosed that the company is planning for the best tablet made on Android platform but with affordability in mind considering that the econony of the world is still recuperating from sickbed of its downfall for almost two years now.
However in an interview, a gadget geek from California said with confidence “Who cares? This device helps me organize things especially with the fast-paced world we have now. We need to be on top of the situation, and this device helps me to be ultra-organized with office related things.”
Google’s Android is fast becoming a defacto standard as tablet PC OS, and as of this writing, Apple iPad is still number one when it comes to sales volume all over the world. Reports said that iPad sold 3 million devices so far only in US a testament of the unmatched appeal of the device in the market. Amazon is not giving-up and resiliently made its Kindle tablet already available in the market. Other strong contenders are HP and Dell which are said to be gearing up to launch the Android tablets in the market soon.
Like LePhone, Lenovo’s LePad is said to be launched in mainland China first then Australia, Canada, and America then the rest of the world after a couple of weeks.
This battle of Tablet PCs will do good in the consumer’s pocket as it will surely make a dent in the devices’ market selling prices.However, Android based devices will surely have distinct advantages mainly because of its popularity and lower production cost. It is speculated that only those who are loyal to Microsoft will patronize Windows 7 based Tablet PCs.
