Beauty Queen Melody Gersbach and two others were dead in a vehicular accident in Camarines Sur. They’re riding on a Toyota Innova when it collided in a public bus which was trying to overtake a tricycle report said. The vehicle was seen in total wrecked and it will only be a miracle if somebody on board remain alive.
Melody Gersbach was the 2009 Binibining Pilipinas International winner and represented the country in China and was among the 16 semi-finalists.
It was reported that Melody Gersbach was with her make-up artist Alden Orense and driver and were on their way to Naga City to attend the Miss Bicolandia beauty pageant when their Toyota Innova collided with a passenger bus at around 11:00 a.m. The three died on the spot.
The driver of the bus identified as Wilson Pontillas has surrendered to the police in nearby Pili town.
These vehicular accident is just one of the most fatal vehicular accidents in one week time. One was in Benguet where 40 people died when a passenger bus fell in a deep ravine due to fault brakes.
It was this accident where the LTO started implementing strick rules and regulations in granting franchise licenses for passenger buses. No less than President Noynoy Aquino expressed disappointments with these vehicular accidents which were caused by poor maintenance technically accounted to irresponsible bus operators.
A month ago or two, there are two buses involved in a vehicular accident killing almost all passengers aboard. The first one was a passenger bus carrying student tourists from Iran when it fell to a deep ravine due to faulty brakes. The other one was rammed in a wall where 14 died.
