Pastor Rick Warren, author of the popular book Purpose Driven Life has just tweeted that his eyes severely burned by a toxic poison while gardening. Rick Warren was hopitalized briefly and now at home recuperating. Rick was asking for his total recovery of his temporarily lost sight.
What happened to Rick Warren in the garden?
According to A. Larry Ross, Rick Warren’s publicist, Rick was in their garden pruning a firestick plant in his yard on Monday when for some unknown reason he got some of the liquid from the plant on his hands. Rick later went to wipe his brow and immediately experienced excruciating pain in both eyes. Immediately, his wife came to the rescue, running out, and it was so painful, he couldn’t clearly express what happened.
Rick Warren was rushed to Mission Hospital in Mission Viejo through an emergency vehicle courtesy of 911. An eye specialist looked at Rick’s case and was told to stay in the hospital overnight for further examination but was released the following day Tuesday.
Rick warren is now wearing protective contact lenses and using an ointment, and his attending physician expect a full recovery sooner than expected, Ross said. Rick Warren did not lose his eyesight, but was unable to open his eyes but assured us that his situation is just a temporary thing. “Thankfully, he’s seeing well enough to be able to tweet,” Ross said.
Rick Warren can now tweet and his initial message is thanking everyone who prayed for his eyes and informed us further that another doctor has just visited him to see the situation of his eyes this PM. “May God use this pain for His Glory” Romans 8:28.
Rick Warren is a pastor who became popular because of a book he authored “Purpose Driven Life”, a book that changed lives giving Rick several citations from different organizations in recognition to what he’s done. In all humility, Rick reiterated all the glory belongs to God because he was just instrumental in making the book successful.
The success of Purpose Driven Life is phenomenal. It’s one of the best selling book of the decade having millions of copies distributed around the world. And this inspired Rick Warren to write another book Purpose Driven Church which also became successful but not as successful as Purpose Driven Life mainly because the former targets Christian church leaders while the latter targets everyone regardless of religious affiliation.
In 2009, Warren was working on a book called “The Hope You Need” (Zondervan), but for some personal reasons, did not make it to the target date of release – November 16. Ross said that the delay is inevitable because Rick wrote the curriculum for his church membership program.
