pacquiao vs mayweather

As predicted by many boxing writers, Floyd Mayweather is not signing the proposed megafight with Manny Pacquiao on November 13, 2010 for some reasons only Floyd knew at least as of this writing. Many boxing fans are looking at Mayweather now to be really the one who don’t want a shadow of Manny Pacquiao in the ring. Floyd Mayweather’s loyal fans started to run out of explanation why he seems to bechickening out of the fight?

Some are even branded him to be an American coward not fitted to sing the American national anthem – ...land of the free, and the home of the brave!

Meanwhile, Bob Arum is looking at Antonio Margarito or Miguel Cotto to be Manny Pacquiao’s dance mate in the ring on November 13, 2010 as replacement for Mayweather.

Arum however dismissed the notion that the door is now totally closed to Mayweather for the proposed megafight. Arum is quick to qualify his statement that should Floyd make up his mind in the coming days, he is still more than willing to accommodate him, but Top Rank is now free to negotiate with other fighters willing to take the challenge of dancing with the Pacman, now a Congressman representing the people of Sarangani province Philippines.

Will Floyd Mayweather signs the contract to fight Manny Pacquiao?

Bob Arum in an interview said that the documents detailing the proposed fight between Floyd Mayweather and Manny Pacquiao on November 13, 2010 has been submitted to Floyd for signing. So, the ball is now in the hands of Floyd and it’s really up to him if he wants the fight by way of signing the documents the soonest possible time.

This latest development is direct from the mouth of no other than the astute boxing promoter Bob Arum of Top Rank Promotions who was coming fresh from Alamodome, San Antonio, Texas for the just concluded “Latin Fury 15″ starring Julio Cesar Chavez Jr. who won against John Duddy of Ireland.

“We need the time to start publicizing the fight during the month of August. We’ve got to get the tickets on sale, commercials done, etc. We have to begin gearing up and getting ready to go by the beginning of August whomever he’s going to fight,” Arum said. He continued on by saying “We’re waiting on Floyd. Floyd has to decide whether or not he’s going to fight this year or next year or not at all. It’s up to him, man. He isn’t up to any obligation. We want a fight this year, and if he doesn’t take the fight this year, then we’ll fight somebody else.”

There are speculations that the Pacquiao – Mayweather will break various records boxing should it happen. It might break the 2 million plus PPV sales of dela Hoya – Mayweather in 2007. And if all computations and numbers become a reality, then it will give Pacquiao and Mayweather a total purse of not less than 50 million dollars each. But Mayweather has signed if first, otherwise, we’re just day-dreaming.

Should the Pacquiao – Mayweather fails, there are still a lot of options for Manny Pacquiao like Puerto Rican Miguel Cotto whom he already defeated brutally in 12 rounds but came back strong by defeating Yuri Foreman and became a Middleweight Champion again. The belt of Cotto in the Middleweight is what makes Cotto – Pacquiao exciting to watch because Manny Pacquiao will be given another opportunity to show if he can fight in the ring as a boxer-congressman and further cement his legacy as “Fighter of the Decade” and a pound-for-pound king in boxing. If this happens and should Pacquiao wins, he will be the first boxer to collect 8 belts in 8 divisions.
