Finally, after months of conjecture and suspense, Lebron James announced to the world Thursday night that he’ll be playing 2010-2011 NBA basketball wearing Miami Heat jersey. Yes! Lebron James makes Miami fans jump for joy while Cavaliers fans cry in deep sadness following his announcement. End of the day, it will be good for basketball especially for Lebron’s fans outside of Cavaliers because certainly, they want to see a different Lebron in different team.
However, Lebron James will also change his jersey uniform number from 23 to 6 as a gesture of honoring Michael Jordan as the greatest basketball player of all time. This is in relation to his filing of application to the NBA on March 1, 2010 prohibiting anyone to wear the 23 jersey number. Michael Jordan used number 23 in his entire career of about 18 years playing basketball in the NBA (18 years, 1984-1993. 1993-1994 season returned to basketball again and retired in 2002).
In that case, Lebron’s new number requires a new symbol from Nike, as his current “Crown” design conspicuously features the number 23. Unlike Michael Jordan who have won six championships when he retired, Lebron James as superstar as he is and probably one of the most talented basketball player today is yet to win a championship.
With Lebron James in Miami Heat line-up along with Dwyane Wade and Chris Bosh, they will be a formidable trio in 2010-2011 NBA season. It will also be considered as one of the most-celebrated free-agent in the league history.

In an interview with regards to his decision to join Miami Heat, Lebron James said “This fall I am taking my talents to South Beach and play with the Miami Heat. The major factor was the best opportunity for me to win, to win now and for the future also. Winning is the most important thing for me. I feel like this is going to be the best opportunity.”
