Pacquiao vs Mayweather Megafight is near – Arum

pacquiao vs mayweatherThe November 13 super fight between Manny Pacquiao and Floyd Mayweather is near to be a done deal, and it will be announced in the next few days. This is according to Hall of Fame promoter Bob Arum in Wednesday afternoon while in San Antonio Texas promoting a a fight card this Saturday led by another student of world renowned boxing guru Freddie Roach, Julio Cesar Chavez Jr – son of legendary Julio Cesar Chavez. Arum further said “We will have a resolution to this within the month.”

Arum is said to be relaxed and confident that the fast approaching November 13 target date of the megafight will not be a problem. It is remembered that the Pacquiao vs Mayweather was shelved in the early part of this year due to PEDs accusation of Mayweather to Manny Pacquiao resulting to a legal case against they Mayweathers and Golder Boy Promotions.

The failure of the megafight resulted into a Pacquiao vs Clottey in March 14 won by Paquiao followed by Mayweather vs Mosley card in May 10.

Arum’s secret is “Patience, patience, patience.” And it seems working because he has been in the thick of negotiations with Golden Boy Promotions of Oscar dela Hoya for more than a month now since the Mayweather – Mosley fight last month.

The Pacquiao – Mayweather megafight is expected to be the richest fight in boxing history which might surpass numerous records including the highest gross in PPV sale todate: dela Hoya – Mayweather happened in 2007 won by Mayweather via split decision.

Owned by Oscar De La Hoya, GBP is representing Mayweather in the negotiations that also involves GBP Chief Executive Officer Richard Schaefer and Top Rank president Todd DuBoef, who is Arum’s stepson.

Though the rumored asking purse split in PPV of the Mayweathers is 60-40 in their favor is not confirmed, it is widely believed that it is indeed the main talking points of the negotiation plus the timing of the Olympic-style drug testing.

However, Manny Pacquiao isn’t buying to the idea and remains firm that he will not agree to a 60-40 percentage split in favor Mayweather since he has already made a concession by agreeing to be tested randomly until 14 days before the fight.
