The saying that goes “A Tamed Animal is still an Animal at heart” holds true especially if the animal is a dog. Just recently, an
American bulldog attacked a 5 year old girl who suffered severe facial injuries somewhere in Northampton area in Pennsylvania. The dog is a family pet and so noone is to be blamed with this incident. It’s a fatal accident where noone would ever think it will happen because on the first place, the dog is considered to be a tamed animal. It’s not the fault of anyone in the family especially the girl. What matters most to them for now is that the girl and the her father – who tried stopping the dog in biting her daughter, but the dog turned and attacked him instead.
The two were taken to a nearby hospital in Northampton area for treament. Reports said that they are now out of danger and concluded that the attact wasn’t a life threatening.
A similar incident already happened last month – April 27 – where a pet dog of the same kind, an american bulldog mauled and killed an 18 month old baby at her own home in West Sussex, South England. According to reports, the girl was with her mommy together with her grandma and three-year-old sister. The three were in the kitchen preparing for something to eat when the dog came from their garden, and hurriedly attacked Zumer Ahmed. Some people in the neighborhood tried rescuing the baby from the dog. They succeeded but Zumer suffered serious wounds in his face, and later died.

The temperament of an American Bulldog is not difficult to handle provided that the handler follows carefully the SOPs in handling pets at home. An American Bulldog is typically a happy and friendly dog that is at ease with its family and fine with outsiders. They bond strongly with their master and family. American Bulldogs tolerates children and can do well with them, provided they are properly cared for and socialized early.
