Jacob Ortiz, better known as Tito Ortiz considered to be one of the mixed martial arts superstars was arrested by Huntington police for domestic violence on April 26, 2010 Monday at his home he shares with his longtime partner, former adult film actress Jenna Jameson.
According to Police Lt. Mike Reynolds, Ortiz, the former UFC light heavyweight champion, was arrested and taken to the Huntington Beach jail but was released after posting $25,000 bail.
Police investigators is not yet disclosing the identity of the victim to the public, but said that she has visible injuries shown which were enough grounds for the arrest of Tito Ortiz. Police Lt. Reynolds further clarified that it is standard that an arrest would only be done on suspicion of domestic violence if there’s a “visible injury,” and the victom’s injuries met that standard. Reynolds said that because Tito Ortiz and unnamed victim have been “Extremely Cooperative.”
On monday however, Jameson was seen by reporters with her elbow wrapped with something. Jenna Jameson said that what transpired was totally a shocking thing in her life where Tito Ortiz had her “lashed out” and leaving her “betrayed.”
When MMA was still in its infancy, 35 year old Tito Ortiz is among the most decorated and popular fighters. Tito Ortiz was the UFC’s light heavyweight champion from 2000 to 2003 during the formative years of the sport’s dominant promotion. Ortiz was able to defend his title five time before losing it to Randy Couture.

Jacob Ortiz , Tito Ortiz has been a wrestler since his college days, and started competing in MMA since 1997. He has been in a relationship with Jameson since 2006, and she gave birth to twin boys in March 2009. Tito’s career started declining amidst several injury problems, including major back surgery. Ortiz tried to return with a bang in November 2010 year by fighting Forrest Griffin losing by split decision. Since October 2006, Ortiz’s UFC career is in downward spiral losing fights 4 in a row perhaps due to his celebrity and high-profile relationship with Jameson seemingly overshadowing what he can do in mixed martial arts.
Ortiz served as a coach on the most recent season of “The Ultimate Fighter,” the UFC’s popular reality television show currently airing on Spike. Yet he apparently was forced to drop out of the show during its taping earlier this year, and the UFC already has announced it will replace him with Rich Franklin for the show’s traditional season-ending bout with fellow coach Chuck Liddell.
One week ago, boxing superstar in the making Edwin Valero stabbed his wife to death in a hotel. Valero arrested by the police and put him to jail after admitting that he indeed killed his wife. However, Valero committed suicide in his cell by hanging himself using his jeans.
This domestic violence that involved famous man and woman of today is somewhat alarming because most of them are being idolized by young and adults all over the world. And the kind of lives they are demonstrating will not help mold the well being of their fans.
